There’s a sense of numbness taking over everything.

It feels like you’re spinning your wheels in life—and not in just one area, either. Health, career, relationships, motherhood, maybe even your journey toward healing itself—nothing is going the way you want it to or the way it “should be.” It doesn’t help when your inner critic keeps feeding you thoughts like “I’m unlovable” or “I’m bad,” either.

On top of it all, you could be experiencing panic attacks, depression, or insomnia. It’s like your body is declining day by day. You’re quick to be scared or worried and it’s a struggle trying to enjoy things you once did before all of this. Or maybe you’re avoiding certain things because it only reminds you of the painful experiences of the past. Truthfully, you’re teetering along the edge of total overwhelm so often, you wonder if you’re going to snap or completely break.

Trauma looks different for everyone, but that doesn’t mean healing isn’t possible.

You really can find joy and hope again. I want to provide you with an environment where you can feel safe, encouraged to take up space, and empowered to use your voice—no matter what has happened.

How it works

When it comes to healing from chronic stress and trauma, focusing only on what happened, changing your perspective, or managing your thoughts and behaviors isn’t enough.

Healing has to go beyond just “talking.” Why? Because trauma is stored in the body.

Our bodies have protective responses that kick in when something is too overwhelming or happens too fast, especially when we don’t have the support to process it. These responses are designed to keep us alive. The real beauty is that our brain is wired to help us survive, no matter what. Trauma isn’t about the event itself, it’s about how it lives in our bodies and how we’re triggered in the present. Healing needs to address these physical aspects to be truly transformative.

This therapy process is all about developing safety and relationships so that the fear you fear— this uncertainty you're immobilized by—can be heard, understood, related to, and transformed. There is time and space for all of it.

Here, we’ll work on…

Understanding Trauma’s Impact: How trauma affects your thoughts, feelings, and beliefs about yourself and the world around you.

Body and Nervous System Awareness: How trauma and stress are stored in your body and nervous system. We will learn the language of your body to recognize survival states like fight, flight, freeze, and attach and appease.

Somatic Attachment-Focused Processing: Incorporating techniques that focus on attachment and bodily experiences.

Healing Trauma Physiology: Using Somatic Experiencing to heal trauma, including shock and developmental trauma, from events like motor vehicle accidents, medical trauma, falls, and prenatal and perinatal experiences.

Our time together will be driven by curiosity, gentle exploration, compassionate care, and patience. I hold an unwavering belief that there is always hope and with the right space, skills, and support, a new experience in yourself and this world awaits.

FAQs

  • I interpret trauma to be any event or series of events that overwhelms your capacity to cope in the moment. Another way of looking at it is anything that was too fast, too much, or without support.  Trauma is deeply personal and can look different for everyone. If you've experienced something that feels overwhelming or has left a lasting impact on you, your experience is valid, and it's okay to seek support.

  • No, you don’t have to retell traumatic events if you don’t want to. While I care about what happened to you, I care more about protecting your nervous system. Usually, I suggest not sharing everything at once because your body relives those events in real time. This is a chance for you to slow down the pace and find healing one step at a time. I have helped many clients resolve their own trauma without them ever having to tell the whole story.

  • Along with talk therapy, I incorporate Polyvagal Informed therapy, Somatic Experiencing, somatic touch, attachment theory, body mind centering, and parts work.
